Reference Guide for Physical Education in California Schools
A new reference guide for physical education in California schools is now available. A "must have" tool for teachers and school leaders, the document provides clear guidance and leadership for decision-making for physical education in grades K-12. Inside learn more about the outcomes of physical education; California Education Code and regulations related to physical education; common issues, questions and misunderstandings; guidance for course design as well as curriculum and instruction practices; and many more resources. Every California school and student will benefit from this new resource.
This document is a result of collaboration between representatives from the California Physical Education-Health Project, Los Angeles County Office of Education, Orange County Department of Education and San Diego County Office of Education.

ADAPTED PHYSICAL EDUCATION
LACOE provides professional learning, guidance and technical assistance in the area of adapted physical education. Adapted physical education is a service provided to individuals with an identified disability, as defined under IDEA, who are unable to fully participate in the general physical education program.
CARE-R2
The Curriculum, Assessment, Resources, and Evaluation Revised edition (CARE-R2) is a motor assessment tool that is commonly used for students with moderate-severe disabilities when determining appropriate adapted physical education placement, triennial assessments and IEP goal development. The CARE-R2 can be used when identifying age equivalents and appropriate goals and objectives for students with disabilities.
